This article proposes a new formulation of the Madelung-Klechkowski rule to describe the électronic configuration of atoms.

Orbital filling rules, such as Madelung’s rule, are empirical and approximate because it depends only of n and l.

Exceptions exist in the experimental electronic configuration of some elements.

A new formula is proposed to determine the electronic configuration of atoms which depends on n, l, ml and ms.

The general formula K(ZX) is related to the ionization energy.

No exceptions.
